Adolescent & Young Adult Health in the Post Reform Era Webinar

On Tuesday, August 17th, the National Institute for Management (NIHCM) Foundation will host a free webinar featuring adolescent health experts from the Georgetown University Center for Children & Families, the National Adolescent Health Information and Innovation Center at the University of California, San Francisco, the Guttmacher Institute, WellPoint Inc., and RAND.

As you know, adolescents and young adults are more likely to be uninsured than any other age group.  Implementation of health reform and the reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIPRA) are expected to change this reality by improving affordability and expanding both public and private coverage options.

As more young adults are able to stay on their parent's health insurance plans, ensuring access to confidential services will become even more important.  This webinar will bring together health plans and leaders in the adolescent health community to discuss the impact of health reform and CHIPRA on access to high-quality, confidential health care services for adolescents and young adults.

DETAILS: Tuesday, August 17th, 12:00 PM (Central Daylight Time).  To register electronically for this free webinar, visit http://nihcm.org/conference_registration.  Participants must register no later than 11 AM (Central Daylight Time) on August 16th, 2010.

EPGP: EPILEPSY PHENOME/GENOME PROJECT

The Epilepsy Phenome Genome Project (www.epgp.org) is the largest research study ever created to identify genes that influence epilepsy and genes that affect an individual's response to seizure medications.  The National Institutes of Health is partnering with major epilepsy centers around the country to collect detailed information on 5,250 individuals over five years.  The goal is to understand what causes epilepsy, which treatment will be effective, and why some families have multiple relatives with seizures.
