The Epilepsy Foundation is able to provide this program through a generous gift from Cyberonics, Inc.

When people with seizures need specialized care, it may not be available in the local area. Travel expenses for individuals and families may sometimes be a barrier to such care, especially when other medical expenses mount up. The Epilepsy Foundation offers travel assistance grants for people who must travel for specialized epilepsy care or testing.
The Epilepsy Foundation established the J. Kiffin Penry Patient Travel Assistance Fund in honor of J. Kiffin Penry, who died in 1996, is considered one of the most influential epilepsy leaders of his generation. He became a professor at Bowman Gray School of Medicine following a distinguished career at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Dr. Penry served for a number of years on the Epilepsy Foundation's Professional Advisory Board and National Board of Directors.
Travel assistance funds are available for individuals who must travel more than 50 miles from their home to receive medical care/treatment for their epilepsy/seizure disorder, but lack adequate financial resources to meet the cost of this travel.
